Weatherproof

Mission: Equip our unhoused citizens with wet and cold weather gear to survive the Washington winter.

Washington weather is unforgiving—especially if you don’t have shelter. Rain, wind, and cold compound fast, turning minor discomfort into real danger. While food access is critical, surviving the week often comes down to staying dry, retaining body heat, and protecting what little you can carry.

Weatherproof is a Cascade Forward project focused on exactly that.

What We're Doing

Weatherproof creates portable survival supply packs designed to help unhoused people make it through several days of cold, wet conditions. These kits focus on warmth, water protection, and basic comfort—things that are often overlooked but make a real difference in day-to-day survival.

Each pack may include items like:

  • Rain protection

  • Warm layers

  • Dry storage

  • Basic hygiene and comfort supplies

They’re practical, lightweight, and meant to be used immediately.

How You Can Help

There are several ways to support Weatherproof:

• Donate supplies for the kits

(We focus on cold-weather and wet-weather gear—quality matters.)

• Drop off donations at:

  • Cascade Forward Community

  • Stands

  • Magpie Books (downtown)

• Give financially to help us fill gaps when specific supplies are short or funding is needed to complete kits.

Staying dry and warm isn’t a luxury. It’s the difference between getting through the week and getting sick, injured, or worse. Weatherproof exists to meet people where they are, with practical care, in real conditions, without judgment or spectacle.
